Ma.K Joint Covers by Daisuke N.
Quick and Easy?
Here's a great article by Daisuke aka "Dianaka" of http://www.justdai.com. He describes a real easy way to make joint covers for Ma.K suits. I don't think his website exists anymore so I've published it here to keep the tip alive.

Materials

  • paper towel
  • white craft glue
  • string or cotton
  • brass tube
  • Wrap some paper towel around a brass tube and glue down the seam.
  • 6 inches of uncompressed paper will yield about 2 inches of joint cover.
  • Here I'm using 5/16 brass tube for the elbow and shoulder cover for a PKA-H.
  • Soak some string or cotton in the glue and wrap around the paper towel
  • Colour the paper towel with a solution of 60% India ink, 30% white glue and 10% water
  • Push the towel to one end of the tube, equally scrunching up the surface.
  • Let it dry a little to harden (try a blow dryer for a few minutes)
  • Remove the joint cover from the tube and let it completely dry over night.
  • Measure and cut the joint cover to size.
  • Run a thin bead of glue around the edges to keep the covers from falling apart.
  • Done
