Re-Master
Intakes
Ah the mysterious Falke intake wheel. No known donor kit. Suspiciously a BMW variant, die cast probably 1:32 scale. First time around I scratch built an intake wheel one lazy Sunday afternoon. A few "spokes" were slightly off so I'm reworking a new one.

Basically the scratchbuild uses a wheel rim from the S800 Toyota because it has the correct inner diameter, along with various bits of styrene flat/tube.

Above: You can see the original intake (left), resin copy (right) and the S800 wheel flipped over (top). The goal will be to create a thin intake wheel and incorporate it with the cowling as a single part.

I started by printing off a scaled, 18 spoke wheel template from the computer. The template is transfered to the S800 rim and centered. I took a knife and scored the outer edge of the wheel, inline with each spoke from the print out. Using a circle cutter, I created a .02 styrene disc and glued a piece 6mm tube which will act as the hub. After gluing the disc/hub, I cut 18 spokes from 2.5mm wide styrene flat bar and proceded to insert them in opposing pairs.

It's a fairly delicate procedure - almost too delicate for the scale I'm used to, 1:1 construction ;-).

After things cured, I sanded back the spoked side then procedded to cut S800 lug details off. I want this to be thin.

Lug Nuts and Axle
Lugs formed from styrene hex rod. Axle round rod. After inserting the hub, the entire part is dressed down with liquid solvent to dull any hard edges. I'm not 100% satisfied with the result (too round) but I'm short on time to bother with another.

Intake Mystery - part 1
Well I think I solved half of the intake mystery. The intake is two parts, with the inner part coming from the Saturn V (monogram kit). That still leaves the source of the spoked wheel.

Intake Mystery - part 2 - Solved
Thanks to research by Dr Tak, the intake mystery wheel part comes from a 1/32 Gunze Skyline!!.
