W44 (E) Pod, 10k

The W44(E) is a mobile unit that is dropped from the underneath of a joker. When it becomes active, it is very powerful as it burns through a units electronics to render them useless. However, it has two disadvantages. The first is that it must travel to it's location, and while moving is veru vunerable. The second, is that once active, the unit is indiscrimminate - it effects ALL units within it's radius of effect!

Operation:

The W44(E) Pod must be dropped. This may be done at any point in the movement phase of the turn and doesn't cost an action.
The pod, once dropped, has a movement of 1C, and may travel at 1 hex per turn, regardless of the terrain penalties, although it still can only travel in terrain that isn't restricted by the movement cost. It may move in the turn in which it was dropped.

The W44(E) Pod has very limited movement options. It can only travel in a straight line, or if programmed before a game, may follow a set course. Additionally, if a combat action is taken to reprogram the pod before it is dropped, it may be set to seek a certain target. This target must be immobile (and therefore usually a building or certain hex), and the Pod will follow a direct line towards that target.

Once launched, the pod may not be reprogrammed or controlled. Nor has it the intelligence to take evasive manoeuvres - it will travel in as straight a line as possible towards the target. It doesn't count as a stacking unit and will, therefore, pass through hexes with other units, be they friendly or enemy.

The maximum distance the pod may travel is 16 hexes. Once at this limit has been reached, the pod will stop and become active in that hex.

A pod while moving may be attacked in one of two ways:

Shooting: A unit in another hex, or a unit that has moved, may attempt to shoot the pod. The pod has a Defence of 5C, which represents the fact that is is such a small target. However, any successful hit will destroy the pod - no armour roll need be made.

Stepping On: If a unit is in the same hex as the pod, and doesn't move for or expend one attack for the entire turn, then it can be assumed to have automatically tracked down and stepped on the pod, thus reducing it to rubble and destroying it.

Activation:

However, once the pod has reached it's target hex, then it becomes active and the fun really begins.

The W44(E) pod has a radius of 6 hexes from the target hex. EVERYTHING within this radius is effected. This includes friendly units, enemy units, neutral units, small furry animals, the lot. There are no exceptions to this.

    Radius of EffectEffects
    Within 2 hexes
    (including target hex)
All units are destroyed, their electronics shorted out completely.
Within 3-4 hexesAll units are disabled (Move and Armament) for five turns.
Within 5-6 hexesAll units take a strength 12 attack, damage lasts 3 turns.

Note that if used on the Moon/Mars, infantry units are killed by any successful attack when their life support goes off line.
