In order that the project be kept in the strictest confidence, several AFS bodies were loaded with the next generation of equipment, such as the new indirect sighting system, heat proof ceramic armour and so on. These new AFS bodies were then used in various tests to see how the equipment performed. At the same time, another project was being developed with the same end goal, and this produced the SAFS Prototype. By the end of October, the tests were satisfactorily completed and the results were used to build a slightly larger and more powerful machine, which was to become the Super AFS. The SAFS Prototype won out, as while they were al heavily tested in combat, they were underpowered compared to the SAFS Prototype. The Archelon was also used in a Mercenary propaganda film showing it easily defeating P.K.A.'s, the film being used to boost the flagging moral of the mostly hired Mercenary troops. However, it is understood that no examples of the AFS Archelon survived much longer than that.
