The AFS (S) was built from captured incomplete PKA H1 body shells after the Mercenary Army over-ran the Shutural base at New Canberra. Several dozen PKA H0 suits were captured, along with several PK41 Fledermaus and PKA Griefs. The Mercenary forces rebuilt the bodies, with additional armour, covering over the glass canopy, adding an indirect sighting system, and making numerous other improvements. The AFS manipulator and laser gun arms were also added. The end result was a machine that was slightly faster and better armoured than the standard AFS, but still inferior to the SAFS.
Skinhead suits were issued to some Armoured Hunting Regiments as a substitute for their SAFS suits when production of the SAFS was lacking, and were usually issued to commanders of AFS units.
