The PKA D Dora is a basically a simplified, up armoured PKA G Gustav using whatever PKA G and H parts were at hand. Externally, it is very similar to the Gustav using the same shell with some modifications (such as no side windows, armoured arm shields, the same weapon), but internally it shares a lot of components from the PKA H-series, including the engine and drive train. The PKA Dora did have some improvements over the G and H-series though. For a start, it incorporated a new heat waste converter design for the engine with the aim that the suit would be less of a target on enemy IR sensors, and also the laser has a special sighting mechanism that allows the Dora to make special long range sniping attacks. However, the design was relatively underpowered as it was using the PKA H engine to power a heavier unit and thus were generally used in platoon sized units where possible. As well as being a limited factory design (which turned into the PKA F Friedrich), the PKA Dora was also the name given to special battlefield repaired units where a PKA Gustav was rebuilt using battlefield salvage. These designs obviously didn't have the additional features of the factory Dora's and were simply termed D Type by the repair crews. However, the crews used this term to mean 'Defect' as the rebuilt models were never quite as good as the originals, but when the suits went back to frontline use, it was assumed that D Type stood for Dora, although none of these Dora's had a standard appearance due to being rebuilt from all sorts of scrap.
