Image copyright by Kow Yokoyama. The SAFS Mk III was a late model Mk II. Production problems arose with the flight unit of the Mk II, so it was left off. Instead, the engine was slightly enlarged and this allowed the Mk III to be fitted with a more powerful laser. An additional armouring of tungsten was applied to the Mk III, mainly in the leg section, and which this, and numerous minor other developments, the Mercenary army found itself with a decent suit which could take on a Nutrocker II single handed.
